I visited Raymond Blanc's hotel vegetable garden and was pleased to hear that this radish – which had been brilliant in our Perch Hill trials – was also their favourite form.

Soil Type Acid, Chalky, Sandy, Fertile, Alkaline, Clay, Neutral

Care Tips Keep well watered to prevent the roots from splitting. Can be grown in container pots, as well as gutters.
Storing Separate the leaves from the bulbs, and store both in the fridge in plastic bags, the bulbs will keep for 3-4 days and the leaves for about 48 hours.
Harvesting March - October, 4-6 weeks from sowing.
Cooking Notes To eat raw, wash the roots and have them with sea salt. You can also eat the leaves - they have a good peppery flavour and make a punchy addition to any mixed leaf salad. Or, use in a stir fry or in a pasta sauce when the leaves get a little too big.

I'm a novice gardener and bought my Cherry Belle radishes as seedlings, planting them in my new raised bed. They are now huge, nearly the size of apples! They have not turned woody and, apart from two which had split, seem to be perfect in every detail. The flavour is quite mild with a slight peppery bite. Fantastic!

Had a really good crop with this radish Cherry Belle at the beginning of the summer but sadly Cabbage White Butterfly laid too many eggs on the leaves and destroyed the crop. Would buy again but take measures next year to prevent the infestation.
