- If frosts have past, slips can be planted outside directly; if not, pot up and grow on in a greenhouse or sunny windowsill until late May or June. Plant roots horizontally, just beneath the soil surface rather than vertically.
Care Tips
Sweet potatoes need warm conditions to thrive and fertile but free-draining soil. They can be grown in containers - choose a large one which holds at least 15 litres of compost.
