There are many forms of poppy that you can grow in the garden, from Oriental to Icelandic and Opium, the papaver genus is hugely varied. However, one characteristic that is carried right through the genus is the blousy blooms, with punchy colourful petals that resemble delicate crepe paper. Easy and quick to grow, many poppy plants will reliably establish on poor free draining soil and will naturalise over time.
