A prolific green leaf veg, with a very similar taste and texture to spinach

Tasty, long-producing and very easy to grow, an exceptional, underrated and very worthwhile plant particularly for those with a tiny garden or those with no time. Just shove this in and it will produce spinach leaves for an entire year.

This is one to sow in early autumn for picking right through the winter and into spring.

Cultivation
Sow early autumn for picking right through the winter and into the spring or sow March-April for harvesting from summer. Sow seeds 2.5cm (1in) deep in rows 30cm (12in) apart, or in a large container.

Care Tips

Keep plants well-watered during hot, dry weather. Late sowings will need protection from October onwards. Cover with cloches or cover with fleece. Pick carefully so you don't damage the roots.
