How to make Christmas decorations with our heart shaped bird feeder

Posted in All Floristry and Crafts, Christmas, on

Our Heart-shaped Bird Feeder looks wonderful all year round, with an apple or fat ball in the garden. Here are two ideas for Christmas - festive foliage with Holly or mistletoe, or a simple and elegant candle idea.

Mistletoe or Holly

Decorate our bestselling bird feeder with an oasis ball packed with holly or mistletoe from your garden or florist and sparkling battery lights (see main image).

You will need:

How to Get the Look

  1. Soak the oasis globe in water for 5 minutes, leaving it floating to absorb the water naturally. Do this rather than pushing it into the water yourself, which will create air pockets in the oasis, and flowers in those will die.
  2. Balance the oasis globe on a small cup or bowl and start to add the mistletoe or holly.
  3. Twist the wreath lights around the feeder and then hang in its desired position.
  4. Place the oasis globe on the spike of the feeder, and add additional mistletoe or holly if required to fill out the arrangement.

Candle and Baubles

Flickering candlelight gives a warm, festive glow. This looks lovely hanging over a table, to brighten a dark alcove or over a fireplace.

You will need:

How to Get the Look

  1. Hang the feeder with coloured ribbon and place the candle securely on the spike.
  2. Cut narrow ribbon to varying lengths and tie onto the baubles.
  3. Tie the baubles onto the feeder, leaving the ribbon at varying lengths, and you’re done!
