skilled operative - plant care coordinator

Rookery Farm Nursery, Spalding, Lincolnshire


ROLE OVERVIEW

The primary responsibility is to coordinate and execute pesticide applications in a safe and effective manner. This role will handle & operate complex equipment as well as managing several elements of the application process. For the right candidate – Full industry training will be provided. PA1 and PA6 certificates preferable.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mix or apply pesticides, herbicides & fungicides through sprays & drenches – under the direction of the growing manager
  • Cover areas to specified depths with pesticides, applying knowledge of weather conditions
  • Fill sprayer tanks with water and chemicals, according to formulas – following the clear instruction of the growing manager
  • Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to use machines or processes
  • Safely use agricultural/horticultural equipment and vehicles 
  • Maintain work area, chemical storage area, and equipment in a condition that promotes good safety practices and is compliant with CDPR
  • Use and keep all personal protection equipment (PPE) recommended for each work situation. 
  • Responsible for inventory control and record keeping
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources
  • Plant care and watering requirements throughout the year – inside glasshouses and polytunnels & outside areas


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Physically fit  
  • Understanding of work-based instructions

  • The ability to listen to and understand information through spoken words and reading
  • Controlling operations of equipment or systems
  • Equipment Selection -- Using the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job

SHIFT PATTERN

  • Day shift – Sunday – Thursday – (can be discussed)
  • Full time – Summer/ Winter shift

Rookery Farm Nursery, Spalding, Lincolnshire


An exciting opportunity to join the Sarah Raven team at our 20-acre nursery in Lincolnshire. We are seeking an experienced and energetic growing manager, specialising in glass and tunnel growing for a range of annual, perennial, and hardy nursery stock categories. 


Your Mission 


As our Growing Manager, you will be a dynamic, ‘hands-on’ grower, driving innovation, sustainability, and excellence every step of the way. From the initial stages of product life to the release of crops for despatch, you will be ensuring maximum efficiency while maintaining our high standards of quality. 


KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of five years growing experience
  • A recognised qualification in horticulture and agronomy
  • Experience in space/capacity planning for optimum and efficient crop production
  • Computer literate with a knowledge of glasshouse computer control systems
  • Conversant with and used to implementing spraying and fertiliser applications for all crops on site, with and understanding of plant health compliance
  • Ability to inspire, enthuse and motivate a team
  • Diligent initiative-taker with the ability to develop better processes
  • Lead the high standards of growing and product care across all product categories from start to finish. Ensure adequate training is given to all staff
  • Determine the correct growing conditions in all glasshouses and polytunnel structures, including temperature control, irrigation, planting, and care schedules
  • Flexibility within the role with a strong understanding of seasonality and forecasting to meet demand
  • In line with the companies’ mission to initiate sustainability, environmental and greener polices
  • To have a clear understanding of DEFRA and IPPFFS rules and regulation

photoshoot assistant - freelance

Marlborough Office, Wiltshire.

ROLE OVERVIEW

This is a non-contractual role, to support the brand with product photoshoots approximately 5-7 times a year. This role involves working in Wiltshire, East Sussex and London. This would suit anyone who is looking for some occasional part time work, no previous experience required, but would be an advantage.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Writing shoot check list and deliverables 
  • Coordinate with internal teams to finalise the product shoot list, and collation of all photography samples
  • Ensure all samples, props and kit are packed safely, delivered, unpacked and kept in good condition throughout the shoot
  • Pack up and co-ordinate return of all product samples, props and kit to head office and the buying team
  • Manage sample room, ensuring all samples are put away correctly and is kept tidy
  • Booking courier/ arranging delivery to shoot location
  • Delivering and collating of samples to local (Marlborough) studio photoshoot
  • Prepare and distribute call sheets and production documents
  • Coordinate transportation, accommodation, and catering for the shoot team as needed
  • Manage the logistics of equipment setup, usage, and teardown

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Flexibility to work on location and travel as required
  • Driving licence – access to a van or large vehicle would be an advantage
