We are currently hiring for the following positions (please note the locations of each role):

biomass boiler technician

Lincolnshire site, Spalding

ROLE OVERVIEW

As Biomass Boiler Technician you will be working in a plant nursery facility as part of the site facilities team. Your role is key to maintaining the operation of the biomass boilers overnight and ensuring downtime is minimized in any unforeseen breakdowns.


Maintaining regular feeds and taking delivery of wood/pallets are all part of this role.


Full training will be given on all biomass boiler systems; however, we are looking for someone who is flexible.

  • This role is permanent nights, but the first two weeks will be a day shift due to the requirement to attend training
  • Mon - Friday
  • Night shift 19.00pm – 03.15am 7.5-hour shift with 45 mins unpaid break
  • Additional flexibility to cover adverse weather, holidays - Weekend availability


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain good housekeeping throughout boiler houses and wood stores
  • Maintain inspection documentation relating to biomass boilers
  • Communicate and work well within a nursery team to maximize boiler efficiency
  • Work effectively and efficiently to meet specified output requirements
  • Notify facilities team of issues or need for repairs found during shifts
  • During the summer months there will be a requirement to move onto a day shift working pattern to assist the growing/ facilities team with the planned site support service work


KEY SKILLS

  • Able to work at heights and has good mobility to get around our large site
  • Able to work nights with some flexibility to workdays to attend training
  • Experience of working in a nursery environment in the horticultural or FMCG industry is desirable
  • A valid UK driving license or own travel
  • Forklift license
  • Resourceful, proactive and ‘can do’ attitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time management, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Honest, friendly, approachable and good team member
  • Solid judgement and decision-making skills
  • You will be able to work on your own initiative to a high standard, always maintaining site safety

Horticulture Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship with Riseholme College 


This role is based at our nursery in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

OVERVIEW 

Are you passionate about plants and eager to start a rewarding career in horticulture? Join our Horticultural Nursery Worker Apprenticeship programme. You’ll gain hands-on experience in plant propagation and care while learning from industry experts. With on-the-job training you’ll develop the skills and experience needed in the horticulture industry.  


TASKS & TRAINING 

  • Plant Propagation – Learning to propagate plants from seeds, cuttings, and other methods
  • Plant Care – Watering, feeding, pruning and general maintenance of plants to ensure their healthy growth
  • Pest and Disease Management – Identify and management of pests and diseases that affect plants 

KEY SKILLS 

  • Understanding of work-based instructions 
  • Team player and good communicator 
  • The ability to work under pressure with a quick-thinking approach 
  • Happy to help attitude 
  • Good understanding of spoken and written English language 
  • Must have reliable means of transportation, for travel to college and the nursery 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Must have basic literacy and numeracy skills and be able to complete the Level 2 Apprenticeship 
  • GCSEs (or equivalent in Maths, English and IT required 
  • Previous experience in the sector and horticultural knowledge would be beneficial

ROLE OVERVIEW 

Leading one of our picking and packing teams to ensure customer orders are accurately fulfilled and packed to a high standard prior to shipment. A chance to enhance your leadership skills and grow your knowledge with full support and training.  


Reporting to Site Supervisor 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversees the daily operation and supervision of staff
  • Ensuring all operational processes are followed and adhered too 
  • Providing leadership, guidance and support to all colleagues 
  • Organising daily tasks, ensuring all KPI targets are met
  • Resolve daily challenges whilst ensuring all process are maintained 
  • Completion of operational paperwork ensuring accuracy 
  • Attending daily operational meetings, ensuring all KPI’s are presented
  • Following health and safety policies and procedures  
  • Follow clean as you go policy 
  • Always following health and safety policies and procedures while on site 
  • Flexibility to work and support all roles and tasks at the nursery 
  • Added tasks from time to time will be needed for the development of the business for which instruction and training will be provided

  • Ability to use a scanner and operate a PC workstation  
  • Understanding of work-based instructions
