Description
A glorious elder with intense, deep burgundy, almost black foliage, and sweet, lemon-scented, pale pink flowers in early summer. When cooked, the berries (pulp and skin) are also edible. However, you should contact a healthcare professional, dietitian or horticulturalist who can provide more information on this.
Care Tips
To achieve the best foliage effect cut back to ground level each year in early spring and apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant. Harmful if eaten; fruit/flowers edible if cooked
