A strong, quick grower with lovely flavour. This thyme has leaves that smell like orange when bruised and blooms in summer with white to lilac pink flowers that produce a lot of nectar. For that reason, Thymus vulgaris 'Orange' is a popular plant with bees and beekeepers.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Plant out in spring, in well-drained soil in a sunny position. Add plenty of grit to the planting hole to aid drainage or alternatively grow in a container with plenty of crocks to help drain moisture.
Care Tips Keep cutting the foliage for culinary use and to keep the plant rejuvenated. This type has a looser growth than familiar thyme , making it ideal for trailing in containers.
Storing This can be dried or stored in oil.
Harvesting Harvest sparingly the first year - the flavour is best just before flowering.

This has a mild and pleasant flavour with only a hint of orange. All the plugs did well and are growing at a steady albeit not very fast pace.
