Description

15 years ago I discovered Hortus Bulborum, the living bulb museum in Holland, where a certain number of bulbs are grown out every year to help retain their gene pool even if they’re no longer commercially available. I fell in love with The Breeder group of tulips - with their unique mahogany, terracotta, chestnut and smoky-purple colouring. I am so pleased that we now have a small amount of one variety 'Dom Pedro' which you can see in this bunch here, at 3oclock, shot at Hortus Bulborum that day. There just aren’t usually varieties available like this now, so it’s a major excitement for us.

Tulip petals are all edible. We scatter them over salad and use some petals dipped in tempura batter and served with a spring garden Frito Misto.

Care Tips

After flowering leave the foliage to die back naturally if you want to reuse the bulbs.
