Description
‘Itoh’ peonies have been around for a while now and many who visit Chelsea will have been amazed by the scale of their spectacular blooms. They are unlike any other traditional peony, being an intersectional cross between herbaceous and tree peonies. They’re highly collectable and desirable.
‘Julia Rose’ has huge, fragrant, deep pink flowers fading to apricot and cream amidst finely cut divided foliage, emerging red in spring and turning green before changing back to red in autumn.
Care Tips
Water regularly in dry spells during the first year to aid establishment. Mulch to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, but avoid covering the centre of the plant as this could damage the buds. Support stems as they carry heavy flower heads.
