On-and-on-it-goes Perennial Border Combination
- Good for Cutting
- Loved by Pollinators
A perennial collection on a prominent corner at Perch Hill which provides soft and gentle tones and textures for vases and all-round garden beauty from the early summer until winter
First comes the alstroe, which if you choose a good one, will become a favourite flower, giving just as good a second flush of flowers in autumn as when this shot was taken in June. With it erupts the best-ever perennial grass, Stipa gigantea which froths up in May and is still standing, elegant and glorious in November. For early on, this graceful and unusual foxglove turns heads and from late summer is replaced by the pure-as-it-comes thalictrum and all through from start to finish, the bed is edged with the rich purple flowers of our all-time favourite salvia ‘Nachtvlinder.’
This collection contains 3 x 9cm pots each of:- Stipa gigantea
- Thalictrum delavayi 'Splendide White'
- Alstroemeria 'Layon' (Majestic Series)
- Digitalis lanata 'Cafe Creme'
