Description
Suitable for a mixed or single species hedge, hazel is one of the most useful species for its easily coppiced stems and huge value to wildlife – especially fritillary butterflies and dormice. Attractive catkins hang in clusters from mid-February and the delicious nuts are ready for picking from late August.
Our UK grown hedging plants are supplied as cell-grown saplings ready for immediate planting into their final positions. Cell-grown plants are known to have high establishment success rates with rapid early growth and are uniform and compact in size for quick and easy planting.
As a guide, use 5 plants per metre length. 5 plants will cover a 1m length, 10 plants will cover a 2m length, and 20 plants will cover a 4m length. When planting, set out in a zig-zag style to encourage a thick and bushy hedge.
