Plant 15cm (6in) deep, 2cm (8in) apart. These are perennial and long-lasting so plant them somewhere permanent.

Description

Plant this lot where you’re sure they’ll be backlit and there’s nothing better, with a great mix of shapes, heights, and airiness. This is your May into June border firework display. And there’s hardly a moment when this group’s nectar and pollen are not being feasted on by bumble and honeybees.

This collection contains:
  • 5 or 10 bulbs of Allium jesdianum 'Purple Rain'
  • 5 or 10 bukbs of Allium macleanii 'His Excellency'
  • 15 or 30 bulbs of Allium hollandicum 'Purple Sensation'

Allium petals are edible, you can scatter them on salads. We use the more delicate types like cowanii and unifolium most often at Perch Hill.

Care Tips

Removing the foliage once it becomes tatty doesn't appear to affect the bulbs.
