Description
Calycanthus 'Venus' is a recent (rare) hybrid selection from Calycanthus x raulstonii 'Hartlage Wine'. It makes a dense bushy medium sized shrub with glossy green aromatic foliage. Unusual magnolia-like white star-shaped flowers, with numerous petals and stained red at the base, are borne intermittently over a long period from early summer to the very end; these having the added bonus of a delicious fragrance. It is happy in most fertile soils, in a reasonably sheltered position that is protected from hot sun.
