Autumn is the perfect season for planting out biennials, perennials, shrubs, and climbers. Soils retain some warmth from summer and moisture levels are on the rise thanks to the autumn rains. These conditions are ideal for quick and early root establishment ensuring plants settle in before winter arrives. They will then be off to a flying start next spring with rapid growth and copious amounts of flowers.
Care Tips
In early spring apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser around the base of the plant and mulch with well-rotted compost, avoid burying crown. Will not flower in its first year. You may need to stake. Only take 1 or 2 stems from a plant for cutting.
