Pinch out tips when plants have 4 pairs of leaves. If autumn sown, overwinter in a light, cool place. Sweet peas often have a hard seed coat so it may help to soften the seed before sowing. Do this by placing seeds on damp kitchen paper and putting somewhere warm until seeds swell or sprout. You can also make a small nick in the seed coat to help moisture enter the seed before sowing. |
Care Tips | Remove the climbing tendrils as they grow. Tie the stem into your framework on a regular basis. Can be grown in deep container pots up a climbing frame. Find out how to cordon train your sweet pea in Sarah's how-to guide. |

Reviewed 1st August 2019 by Miss Handy Great germination and strong seedlings. Saw them through mouse attack through the process. Then I took my eye off them in the spring and they all got eaten overnight by slugs/snails |
Reviewed 1st August 2019 by Gillian Was disappointed with the flowering this year but think this was because i was on holiday and not around to pick the flowers. Was only away 3 weeks so wished tjhey had flowered for longer. Incidentally they were on an irrigation watering syste |
Reviewed 1st August 2019 by Clare High quality goods. Speedy service, and excellent organisation. |
Reviewed 1st August 2019 by Michelle I’m quite disappointed for the price I’ve paid as I followed all instructions and tips given by both Sarah Raven and Arthur Parkinson starting the seeds off in the winter, but have had only about 8 flowers so far at this stage at the beginning of August! I have lovingly tended the plants for a very poor show really. I have only had blue flowers so far no pink at all! Not sure I’d pay these prices plus expensive postage again. I would normally have asked for a refund if I had purchased something that I didn’t have to wait to grow! |

Reviewed 21st November 2018 by Heather The sweet peas did not do well. I emailed Sarah Raven to this effect on 11.10.18. I forwarded a copy of the roots of the sweet peas. The reply I received was not satisfactory. It stated that this had not been a good year for sweet peas. |

Reviewed 22nd September 2018 by Elaine The sweet peas started flowering in May - and still have a few flowers on them, in spite of the recent storms! Scent was amazing and filled our garden and house (and friends houses) all summer. Colours were stunning - a great mix. Lots of bunches to give to friends and a lovely addition to our cottage garden. Can't wait to grow them again! |

The sweet pea seedlings were excellent quality and are still flowering. |
Reviewed 19th September 2018 by Angela They were brilliant and flowered well. Lovely colours. |
Reviewed 19th September 2018 by Catherine I loved the colours, and the scent. At the beginning of the blooming period, the flowers had very good length of stem. However, despite my best efforts to water and feed adequately, the later stages of flowering were disappointing: I’m inclined to attribute this to the weeks of blisteringly hot weather. Last year, with a different collection, I was still gathering 50-100 blooms at week in mid-September. This year, the plants are exhausted. |

Reviewed 5th September 2018 by Yvonne This is the second year I have purchased sweet peas from you and again a wonderful showing throughout the year. The smell of these sweet peas is wonderful and I was cutting them and bringing them indoors every other day. I had so many flowers I was cutting them for my neighbours as well. |

Reviewed 3rd September 2018 by Mrs Chapman Same comments as per the other sweet peas from you - will definitely be repeating next year. Lovely plants, lovely blooms, lovely scent - Thanks very much. My only failure from you has been one dying purple alstromeria so very good overall. |
Reviewed 3rd September 2018 by Gail I have been growing sarah raven sweet peas for many yearsand have found this mix to be my favourite. However this year the Lord Nelson seedlings have not performed as well as the other two varieties. In fact I would say the Prince Edward of York have been dominant - so a bit too much pink. Not sure why that is. It has been unusually hot for the east of Scotland this year but I have watered regularly. They still provide a lovely splash of colour and a wonderful perfume. |
Reviewed 2nd September 2018 by Ruth Had the same sweet peas last year from you.plants arrived in good condition.flowering not as long as last year due to the heat and lack of water |
Reviewed 2nd September 2018 by JEAN Excellent. The best sweet peas I've ever grown. They all came and flowered very well. |

Reviewed 29th August 2018 by Marian Yes! I like your careful packaging of good quality plants and the efficient updating of an order. The cosmos have grown like Jack'S beanstalk this year and have rather outgrown their planned site but I'M sure that is due to the unusual conditions this year. |
Reviewed 29th August 2018 by Anna
Well, the sweet peas developed rather bad mildew and did not grow very high. I am sure this was due to the drought. |
Reviewed 29th August 2018 by Ray Sweet peas have been great although I would have liked a greater variety of colour - nearly all purple, Not enough pink. Good show and still flowering. |
Sweet Pea seedlings
Reviewed 10th June 2016 by Michael Barry Darlington For health reasons I was behind with my gardening this season. I adore sweet peas but all the usual internet providers were out of stock. How fortunate I checked Sarah Raven site. I have bought from them in in the past and although a fraction more pricy than some other sites, her goods have always been of the highest quality. I ordered the Harlequin Sweet pea mix. They arrived today and are of superb quality. I immediately repeated the order and had the added bonus of a reduced sale price. I would highly recommend anyone who's buying plants in particular and appreciates top quality, to visit Sarah Raven's site first. Mike Darlington. |
Fantastic display
Reviewed 25th August 2015 by C Sloper I bought these as 12 seedlings this year and they have been fabulous! Over 2 full months of flowering and completely covered my 6ft high obelisk. The scent was really strong and the colour mix stunning. |
