If I had to select just one plant from all the container varieties we trialled at Perch Hill last summer (well over 100!), this would be it. It flowered from May until November, covered top to toe in carmine saucer flowers and began to climb up support canes too. It drew SO many comments.

This is a wonderful petunia, survives the wind and rain in my pots. Needs hardly any care once established

Excellent service, but I only got 3 plants from 10 seeds. They are however fabulous. They are in a pot flower very well and put up with rain and wind. They don't trail much, but I don't mind.

I ordered these seeds in April, specifically as annual climbers having seen them on Gardeners World. You somehow didn't get the seeds in stock until too late for annual climbers this year, I appreciate some thing was outside your control but I don't think you should be advertising seeds for annuals until you have them! The clue being in the title. On receipt they don't sound like climbers. Finally this response form is really irritating, it jumps up and down all the time, so probably lots of typos!

Every seed erminated and they have been looking stunning, a bit soggy after the downpours.

This is a simply gorgeous petunia - give it plenty of room, it sprawls! From only a few seeds we have full germination and massive, beatiful plants. Very elegant.

These petunias are a glorious colour, deep, rich red, majestic. They have lasted well with almost daily deadheading and are still flowering quite vigorously in September, even in the recent rain here in the north. Only now are they getting leggy. The vigour with which they flower can be a bit overwhelming for the other plants sharing a container with them, but I would purchase them again.

Poor quality plants, I would have passed by these had they been in my local garden Centre.

This also was purchased for my daughter and I think when you get some more in stock she will want more! She said they are beautiful.

These are my favourites of this year’s purchases from Sarah Raven. The colour is deep, rich and velvety and the profusion of flowers is unrivalled. They are so beautiful I ordered a second batch. Absolutely glorious!

Tidal Wave

The photograph does not do this plant justice - I found it a much deeper, richer velvety red and only the older flowers went this colour. I did find it incredibly vigorous - living up to the name Tidal Wave in that three plants completely overwhelmed a 90x85 cm raised bed. They took it over, forming a mountain through which came dark red gladioli! As so often with gardening, not quite the effect I had anticipated but v good, apart from the poor Sunset Papaya nemisia which I had wanted to provide a contrast with all the red but which failed to cope with the competition. I would not grow this again in a container with any other conventional container plants.

Sarah Raven plants and bulbs

This review is about all the plants and bulbs I have ordered from Sarah Raven. I have tried many other online garden suppliers - Sarah Raven is undoubtedly one of the very best. This year's spring bulbs have been wonderful, and especially some of the tulip collections. The young plants and plugs are almost always larger and healthier than competitor suppliers and the other things which make success more certain is that they are delivered promptly and packaged securely. This is often a problem with other suppliers whose packaging is inferior to that used by Sarah Raven and plants can be many days en route - not so with Sarah Raven - they are almost always delivered the day after despatch. I have been conducting something of an experiment over the last couple of years to see whose plants and service provide the best result - up front the Sarah Raven ones tend to be a little pricier. But the conclusion I have come to is that most of the other "big names" are proving to be false economy and I will be sticking with a smaller number of suppliers for the future with Sarah Raven at the top. I have to give five stars for quality of product and delivery service.

Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:

"Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience of shopping with us. We are so pleased to hear how happy you have been with your orders.

Extensive trials are conducted by Sarah at Perch Hill in choosing all of the bulbs and plants in the range, and it is lovely to know that you have so enjoyed the bulbs you received last autumn. Similarly, a lot of research has led to the development of the packaging and delivery method for plants, and I am glad that it has meant you have been receiving deliveries in the condition we expect.

Happy gardening!
The Sarah Raven Team"
