Our tulip bulbs are the best and biggest we can find, from tried and trusted growers. Don't forget that tulips like to be planted late in October and November with the colder weather, and need a little watering if planted in pots.

Care Tips | Don’t plant tulips until mid-late October. Plant pointy end up 10-15cm deep, 8cm apart in borders (less in containers). You can use a mycorrhizal Bulb Starter. After flowering leave the foliage to die back naturally if you want to reuse the bulbs. |
Flowering | April - May |
Vase Life | Tulips make supreme cut flowers. Strip the bottom leaves, tie the stems in paper to hold the stems ram-rod straight and leave to drink for at least 3 hours – or overnight. This helps keep the stems straight, but tulips do continue to grow after picking so curves may appear. |

Reviewed 13th July 2019 by Hello Carole Absolutely beautiful collection of tulips that provided a stunning display that lasted |
Reviewed 12th July 2019 by Hello Claire The most impressive in this collection was Francoise. Disappointingly, the purple tower failed to open. Maybe 3 of the 20 bulbs did not sprout. Still a nice enough display. |
Reviewed 11th July 2019 by Hello Susan healthy growth and beautiful quality delivery prompt and well packaged |
Reviewed 11th July 2019 by Hello Pauline I have rated all of the tulip selections a 5 because they were so cleverly matched. As an artist I am very aware of the way that colours are mixed. The service was very well organized and the bulbs were packed well. I am sorry there are no photographs as I was very ill at the time. It was a joy to look out on such lovely blooms. |
Reviewed 11th July 2019 by Hello The tulip bulbs arrived much later than wallflowers so were not planted at the same time, the colours were not as described and there was no fragrance from the wallflowers. My dementia patients love looking at the brochures that i take to work as the marketing is good but you are selling an idea that has no concept of reality. |
Reviewed 10th July 2019 by Hello Bob They grew well but the bulbs did not open as I had planted them in my feature garden it was very disappointing. I had sent some to my sister in Exmouth and hers did the same |
Reviewed 10th July 2019 by Hello Susan They were pretty however very pale and bulbs came out in dribs and drabs so display had minimal impact. |
Reviewed 10th July 2019 by Hello Curly I have bought from you many times now and it is always quick and easy. The plants are always heathy with good roots and we've had great success with them. The tulips bulbs we got from you for this year were some of the most beautiful we've had, in particular the Victoria's Secret and the Tapestry Collection. |
Reviewed 10th July 2019 by Hello Andrea Service was excellent, bulbs were gorgeous |
Reviewed 30th June 2019 by Barry I have sought feedback from the receiver of the bulb collection given as a gift ! They were delighted with the results . The display for minor effort and tending was spectacular and a brilliant start to Spring. |

Reviewed 27th June 2019 by Mrs Wustefeld Some tulips didn’t bloom and I was given a refund to cover this. Generally very good.my recent purchase of pelargoniums I found very disappointing for the money involved. I felt I had nothing really to show for £50. I have been told they will fill out in July but that’s not far away so I will keep you posted. |
Reviewed 26th June 2019 by Mrs Cruise Flowering a bit patchy, but those that did flower were lovely. |
Reviewed 26th June 2019 by Susan I didn't think that the colours or the forms of the different tulips were sufficiently cohesive though they grew well. |

Service from SR is pretty good but the quality of these tulips left a lot to be desired. I have bought SR tulips for some years now but these failed to grow into good flowers. Planted, as usual, in pots they were very slow, came at different times and the colours were pathetic. I understand they were called Tapestry - no way! |
Reviewed 26th June 2019 by Sara Excellent service, plants were fabulous |
Reviewed 26th June 2019 by Marie These did not flower properly and were a real dissapointment. |
Reviewed 26th June 2019 by Wendy One of the varieties, I think it was called purple tower, failed. The others were beautiful. This is the first time over the years any of my tulip purchases have failed. |

Sort of Happy
Reviewed 1st June 2018 by Louise Brooker I spent literally hours deciding on which tulips bulbs to buy for my new garden and just couldn't resist the Tapestry Collection. The Belle Epoque tulips were beautiful but the other tulips really didn't come to much at all. There were huge gaps in my display and some didn't emerge from the soil at all. Some grew but never opened, leaving the Belle Epoques rather lonely and scarce! I think I will stick to Belle Epoques in the future as the few I had looked really splendid. |
Beautiful blousey collection!
Reviewed 20th May 2016 by Alison I was cautiously hopeful, after reading some of the other (not-so-great) reviews, but I was actually really pleased with the Tapestry Collection. Soft, beautiful colours, and much bigger flowers than I expected. The bonus is the gorgeous 'Purple Tower', which was green when the tulips were out, and has slowly turned into a purple-topped wonder, which looks amazing with the alliums that followed on! |
Persevere
Reviewed 6th May 2016 by Alison Luckey This is the second year my collection has bloomed. I agree with the previous comments as I was somewhat disappointed last year - the tight purple ones never fully opened and the collection did not seem to bloom simultaneously. However, having deadheaded and left the foliage to rot down, this year they are plentiful and magnificent. Still a delay in blooms opening in the purple variety, but they have been long lasting overall and I am generally very pleased. Be patient! |
Tapestry collection
Reviewed 7th May 2015 by Judy Spring I saw the reviews for this collection when checking details of what I should expect at this time of the season (early May). Great disappointment as the only tulip which has passed muster was the Belle Epoque which is indeed beautiful but is now nearly over. The Green Star has not come out at all and the Purple Tower is just tight buds showing small amount of colour. Very disappointing after the collection I chose last year performed so well and the illustration promised so much. Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:"Thank you Judy for sharing your experience. We are so sorry to hear that you've been disappointed with your collection, please do get in touch with our Customer Service department who will be able to arrange a replacement to be sent out in the autumn." Tapestry tulip collection
Reviewed 24th April 2015 by Valerie Titmuss I agree with the previous comment......I had only four Green Star (out of two collections) and these will be long gone by the time Purple Tower appear.........best of the bunch are La Belle Époque, as the tulip ages the colour fades but still looks magnificent. |
Not good
Reviewed 24th April 2015 by Joy Lambert My tapestry collection is disappointing. Instead of the promised little purple tulip, there are three tatty knickers pink flowers. Plus, only three green stars came up. Oh dear. La belle etoile is beautiful. I have sent a photograph under separate cover. Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:"Thank you so much for your review Joy. We are so sorry to hear that you're disappointed with this collection, especially as this has been one of the favourites at Perch Hill this season. Please do make sure you send your photo through to info@sarahraven.com and they will be able to help you further – it sounds like the 'Purple Tower' tulip isn't completely in full bloom yet, so perhaps wait for this one for another week." Tapestry Tulip Collection
Reviewed 23rd April 2015 by Jackie Taylor Really disappointed with this collection of tulips. I've always been delighted in the past but these are dreary and unexciting. There is a single 'Green Star', and 'Purple Tower' are yet to flower. Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:"Hi Jackie, Thank you for your review. We are so sorry to hear that you're disappointed with this collection, we hope you'll continue to try new collections this coming autumn." Posted 23rd April 2015 |
Stunning collection
Reviewed 20th April 2015 by Teresa Foley This is the first time I have ordered this collection and it does not disappoint! The colours and unusual shapes are beautiful. They seem to be lasting well too. Hopefully they will reappear next year. I shall definitely be ordering a different collection for next Spring. |
