Quite strong growth but no flowers

Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:

"Thank you for your review. In our experience Eucomis need a prolonged spell of warmth to encourage flowering which we would expect to be from late August/September. Please contact our Customer Services Team at info@sarahraven.com if this is not the case."

So far, rather disappointing. Only two bulbs survived and now only floppy leaves and no flower. Perhaps something will appear in August.

Healthy, long purple/red leaves but I'm waiting for stems bearing the star-shaped flowers to appear (late summer?). Some bulbs are only just starting to show leaves.

Late to come up but so far so good. Lovely colour leaves. Early days yet for flowers but I’d love to know how best to overwinter them.

The dahlias I purchased are fine and Waltzing Matilda and Honka Pink are sensational but the Eucomis bulbs have only produced leaves with no sign of any flower buds ..

I have rated this with 2 stars, as disappointingly, these bulbs have failed to flower. they have produced spectacular foliage, which became a huge tease as I waited, in vain for the beautiful pineapple like flower spikes to arrive.
I followed the planting instrustion to the letter and so you can imagine my sadness at their lack of lfower. The Acidanthera are spectacular and it would have been so wonderful if the Eucomis had been as prolific.
I always buy my bulbs from SR with usually very happy results, but not this time. I would appreciate hearing from some one on SR's team to try and help me with what to do. It would be super of this was a first year blip, and I could expect glorious results next summer.

Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:

"Thank you for your review . We would normally expect eucomis to flower in late summer into the autumn. This year they were very late to start in to growth following the cold spring, so it may be that if we have a mild autumn yours will still flower. Next summer it may help to start them over undercover before putting them outside and also giving them a regular feed during the growing season."

Took ages to get going, thought I had lost them(3). Then bingo! Saw some shoots and now have sturdy plants. I believe the hot dry summer was the cause even though I watered regularly.

The service was excellent and the bulbs appeared to be in good condition, but they have not flowered! The leaves are handsome and I shall leave them in the ground and hope for better things next year.
I started them in a pot, perhaps they would have been better planted straight into the ground?

Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:

"Thank you for your review. Eucomis do best planted deeply in a sunny spot in well prepared soil or in pots. So they should be fine left in your container. We would recommend giving them a feed when they start back in to growth next spring and keeping them well watered in the summer."
