Utterly delicious, deep wine-red velvet, large-flowered anemone. Excellent for cutting and hugely recommended. These gave me more pleasure in February and March this spring than almost anything else we were growing.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting | Plant directly outside in April for June and July flowering or in June for September flowering. May also be planted September-October in mild areas or under cloches for February and March flowering. After flowering, the corms can be lifted and dried, or they may be left in the soil permanently, where they will flower annually April-June. Plant 7-8cm deep, 10-15cm apart on their longest side. |
Care Tips | Soak in a bucket of water overnight before planting, this will start them growing quicker. They will naturalize in grass or in a wooded area. Add grit on heavy soils. |

Reviewed 26th June 2019 by Margaret Corms produced lovely flowers with good colour |
Reviewed 21st November 2018 by Olga These are the first anemones I've had no problems with. I soaked them for 24h then planted in a mixture of compost and sand in terracotta pots. The majority, if not all (didn't count), corms had leaves and quite a few flowers. I got these on sale so plated rather late in season and the summer was very hot this year, so I'm rather pleased with their performance. Lovely flowers and the service from SR is great. |
Reviewed 13th November 2018 by Barbara Although product arrived promptly I have not had a single of the corms come up. I followed the planting instructions carefully and they were put in a good position in enriched clay soil with plenty of grit. I usually find Sarah Raven plants very good ( the osteospernum I bought are still going strong )so am extremely disappointed . what happened? |
Reviewed 7th November 2018 by Mary Lovely colour when they came into bloom. |
Reviewed 7th November 2018 by Stephen None of these corms produced a flower this year. Did I ourchase them too late? Will they produce a showing next year? |
Reviewed 31st October 2018 by Pauline Very few flowers, probably the weather. |
Reviewed 4th October 2018 by Brigid Service was fine, but only about 5 of the corms came up. I bought them because I had had a wonderful display of the pink ones the year previously, but whether it was the unusual weather we had this year, I do not know. |
Reviewed 20th September 2018 by Ruth Followed all instructions and only 3 corms flowered |
Reviewed 19th September 2018 by Giuseppina They were a great success. Great flowers, prolific and also good cut flower. |
Reviewed 19th September 2018 by Roger The anemones never came through or the agapanthus Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:"Thank you for leaving your review. We are very sorry to hear of your disappointment with your anemones and agapanthus and have refunded you for them." Posted 7th November 2018 |
Reviewed 19th September 2018 by David the product was as described. Delivery was within the timeline given and they all flowered wonderfully. This was the first time in years that I managed to get Freesia's to flower so profusely |
Reviewed 19th September 2018 by Andrew The colour is wonderful, the best dark red anemone I've grown. Reasonably generous flowering and very good cut. |
Reviewed 17th September 2018 by Geraldine Service fine. Corms did nothing |

Yes all grew really well for me |
Reviewed 29th August 2018 by Anna They came into leaf and flower very well in container. However shortly afterwards just seemed to wilt and look unwell. The weather was good and they had sufficient water. Initially started them off in the greenhouse until in leaf, could that have been the problem? |
