Operations Manager

Marlborough Office

The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing our customer service department, our in-house and 3rd party warehouse and despatch centres, as well as overseeing our ERP system.

This is a new role and represents a unique opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to work for one of the fastest growing brands in the gardening sector.

Main duties:

  • Management of our in-house customer service department, including managing budgets, ensuring delivery of KPI targets, and developing processes and services to improve the customer experience.
  • Responsibility for our in-house warehouse, including staff planning, delivery of KPI targets, and developing processes to meet efficiencies.
  • Oversee the despatch of our bulbs through a third party warehouse, ensuring SLAs are met.
  • Oversee the management and despatch of our plants from a third party nursery (based in Lincolnshire), including stock management processes, space planning and despatch forecasting.
  • Manage procurement of all packaging materials.
  • Negotiate and manage all carrier contracts.
  • Oversee our ERP system, including key third party interfaces.
  • Liaise internally with key stakeholders in our buying, merchandising and marketing departments.

Skills and experience:

  • Highly organised individual with previous exposure to a variable, fast paced environment.
  • Previous experience of operations management, ideally within a pick, pack and despatch environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to learn and apply new concepts and overcome obstacles with change.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with and influence others.
  • Willingness to travel (approx 2-3 days per month).

Email Marketing Manager

Marlborough Office

Sarah Raven is one of the fastest growing gardening companies in the UK, with an award-winning website and catalogue. We are currently looking to recruit an Email Marketing Manager to join our dynamic Marketing department based in Marlborough, Wiltshire.

The role will involve the following:

  • Drive our overall email strategy
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to plan our email marketing activity for both automated and weekly promotional emails.
  • Write email briefs, brief creative and work with the internal teams to gain sign off.
  • Build, test and send emails using our ESP (Ometria).
  • Set up segmentation and new workflows within the Ometria Email Platform.
  • Report on email results on a weekly, monthly and seasonal basis.
  • Report on trends and set targets for our email contacts database.

Our ideal candidate will have previous experience building, sending and reporting on emails for an Ecommerce company, strong numeracy and analytical skills, an eye for detail and design, and a good understanding of brand and customer.

Artworker

Marlborough Office

We are currently looking to recruit an Artworker to join our dynamic Marketing department based in Marlborough, Wiltshire.

The role will involve the following:

  • Catalogue and inserts artworking from dummy stage through to and including preparation for print and upload to printer's insite.
  • Print preparation for other printed pieces.
  • Trafficking of feedback from stakeholders and consequent design amends across email and website content blocks.
  • Creation of final content blocks for email builds.
  • Creation of website content blocks to designer's brief.
  • Resizing and supply of final files for digital ads to designer's original.
  • Maintenance of an image archive and company guard book.

Our ideal candidate will have at least 3 years experience artworking and be highly proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. They will be happy liaising with the wider team and other departments and be a confident multi tasker. A keen eye for detail and an eye for design, with a good understanding of brand and customer, and an awareness of graphic design trends.

Junior Buyer

Marlborough Office

Sarah Raven is one of the fastest growing gardening companies in the UK, with an award winning website and catalogue, and a passion for product and service. We have an exciting opportunity for a junior buyer to join us through our next phase of growth.

Product area: Array of hardware (defined as non-plant, seed or bulb product areas) from clothing/textiles, tools and fertilisers to vases and furniture.

The role: working on horticultural hardware categories, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing and interpretating reports and creating range plans for the above hardware categories.
  • Understanding and following the company critical path.
  • Preparation for range reviews and sign off meetings for the horticultural hardware range, under guidance from the Category Manager.
  • Be responsible for range reviews, product sourcing and product development under the guidance of the Category Manager, ensuring they fit within brand guidelines.
  • Completion of Buying Sheets, checking quotes and product specification details are maintained correctly.
  • Keeping records of trials, requesting samples, tracking progress and recording trial results.
  • Assist with compiling information for web content, including researching product attributes.
  • Work on catalogue layouts with the Category Manager prior to sign off by directors.
  • Assist with any product issues/queries and communicate problems to suppliers along with a solution for the customer.
  • Attend trade shows and supplier visits when required.
  • Review online navigation and propose improvements where required.
  • Organise samples ready for review and photography shoot.
  • Assist in photography shoot set-up.

What you need to be successful:

  • Experience in a similar buying role or be ready to step up to the next level.
  • Be highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to a critical path.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A high level of professional integrity and strong sense of responsibility.
