Care Tips Feed in winter with a balanced fertiliser and place a mulch (such as Strulch) around the plants to suppress weeds. Water blackcurrants during dry periods in the growing season.
Flowering May - July
Storing In the fridge, for up to three days. Don't wash them before storing or they'll go soggy. They can also be frozen.
Harvesting In the fridge, for up to three days. Don't wash them before storing or they'll go soggy. They can also be frozen.
Cooking Notes To remove the berries from the stalks, hold each stalk at the top with the berries at the bottom and run a fork down each one. The berries should come away easily, without being damaged. To cook, stew blackcurrants adding a little water and 50g sugar per 450g of fruit, simmer gently until just tender.
