Spacing Transplant at 20cm tall into a 15cm deep hole and fill this with water, not soil. Space at 15-20cm.
Sowing, Seeds, Planting Sow under cover March-April, and plant out in June. Or sow direct May-July.
Care Tips Leeks can be treated like perennials, and have beautiful flowers if left to grow.
Storing Store in the ground and harvest as needed. Keep in plastic bag for up to 3 weeks in the fridge.
Harvesting August - March. 90-95 days after sowing.
Cooking Notes Ideal for soups and stews, and make an excellent replacement for onions. Finely chopping leeks brings out their flavour and texture. Delicious gently fried with a little lemon and sage. Perfect in pies too.
