I spent time when I was a child staying in the beautiful medieval hill town, Asolo, in the foothills of the Dolomites in Italy. We used to buy mixed baby leaf salad in the market, and take it home and dress it with a little olive oil and lemon juice. This mix of salad leaves is inspired by the memory.
We sowed this in September last year, and were still picking from the same patch in June. Incredible, and hugely recommended – I love it.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting | Direct sow in small batches every 2-3 weeks from March-August in lines, or blocks. During the summer do not sow in the heat of the day. You can speed the germination process up by sowing into a length of guttering under cover and transplanting outside. |
Care Tips | The plants need plenty of water, but not too much sun. Hot weather increases the likelihood of them going to seed. |
Storing | Pick just before serving. |
Harvesting | 6-8 weeks from sowing, giving leaves for about 3 months. Harvest just outer leaves so plant can continue to grow. Successional sowing should provide leaves nearly all year. Keep picking regularly to prevent flowers running to seed. |
Cooking Notes | Wash well. |

Delicious Salad, Very Easy to Grow
Reviewed 16th June 2014 by Alissa This delicious salad mix is the perfect combination of textures and flavours. I've grown it in a container pot out in my back garden (in the middle of a city) and it's grown perfectly quickly and well with very minimal effort. |
