Service was great, packaging was lovely but despite following instructions I was very disappointed in how everything came up....or not as the case actually was! A sprinkling of spindly plants, not the rush of colour I expected. It may have been the weather or even my poor soil, although that is what the soil recommendation was. It won’t stop me shopping at Sarah Raven though, just the 2 purchases made this time were a bit off

Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:

"Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear of your disappointment with your Cottage Garden mix seeds and have refunded you for them."

The Cutting Patch collection is interesting but a little complicated to work out if you want to follow the full instructions. The plan could be better explained for a beginner e.g whether you should plant straight in the ground or in trays first. It does seem to think its all obvious which it wasnt as the seed packets had their own instructions on too. Flowers looking good now though. Cottage garden mix is easy and is also lovely at the moment. Aug 1st

I bought two packets of 6grams for a smallish area behind a little pond and the first flowers came in June and they have produced more flowers as time has gone on. Everyone agrees that the display is beautiful.

Not flowering yet and would not seem a great mixture. Early to tell although it is now just August

I sowed the mix as instructed in squares with sand and I did it again after 6 weeks . Very few seedlings appeared.

Sowed these to fill a large clear patch in my vegetable plot and they failed completely. I think I got one cosmos plant but that may have been a self seed. V disappointing, I even bought sand especially as per instructions!

Was so excited to try this seed mix on a patch of soil, thinking I would be creating an instant garden in the bare patch.... I even took far more care than usual to follow the planting instructions, but weeks later, I have only one flower that looks like the pic on the website despite planting the whole pack.... there’s not a cosmos in sight and I would probably have been better off letting the weeds take over!!!

Planted this in 2016 in may into lawn which i had covered in black plastic then lightly rotavated. Rained the next day and the seedlings came straight up. Took a little while to get going but an amazing riot of colour and height all the way through to November. I counted about 20 different species and saved seed from as many as I could. Gold finches loved it overwinter. Sewed my saved seed in 2017 in the same place and again an amazing display augmented by self sown dropped seed which gave an even longer display. Just kept an eye on sow thistles. Saved seed again in 2017 so going to do it again. Big impact, minimum effort. However don't expect it too look exactly as the photo, far fewer zinnias in mine, but not a problem.

Very Colourfull

Have planted two lots into fresh compost this year and last. Kept well watered during warm weather. Good results. Some lovely yellow, white, orange flowers, some deep crimson thistle flowers. Morning mist etc mixed in. Good value.
