Type | Perennial (grown as an annual) |
Common Name | Heartsease |
Border Position | Container Garden |
Soil Type | Broad Tolerance |
Scent | Scented |

Sowing, Seeds, Planting | Sow indoors spring or autumn. Once seedlings emerge, pot on and move to a cooler position before planting out into fertile, well-drained soil and watering well. Ideal for containers and edging paths to soften the edges. |
Care Tips | Incorporate a slow-release fertiliser or give a balanced liquid feed every 2-3 weeks. Deadhead or pick regularly to prolong flowering and maintain a compact shape. If plants become leggy, a mid-season chop in July to 5cm (2in) above ground-level will help promote bushy re-growth. |
Flowering | October - May |
Storing | If using the edible flowers for recipes, they will keep for a day or two in the fridge. |
Harvesting | December to April |
Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |

Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Terence Very good service. Excellent packaging. Prompt service and more importantly good quality plants. |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Helen Beautiful little plants, but more delicate than other violas. Several succumbed early on. |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Cass Very pretty. Nice, healthy plants when they arrived and have thrived since. Very pleased. |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Sara I didnt get on too well with these, some didn't survive to reach a good size. I expect this was down to me though forgetting about them in the winter weather. 1 plant survived and still going many months later. |
