With flowers in the most luscious Cardinal purple velvet, ‘Kew Blue’ is an exquisite flower, perfect for smaller table-top pots and as a cut flower. It’s stems are fine, so this performs best if grown up through a nest of twiggy branches for support. A truly exotic beauty.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Sow indoors, February-April, in pots or trays of seed compost, sprinkle seed and press gently onto the surface. Salpiglossis need darkness to germinate, so cover the trays with black plastic, cardboard or place in an airing cupboard until seedlings appear. Pot on seedlings into individual pots when large enough to handle. Gradually harden off before planting outside after the frosts.
Care Tips For best results, provide a rich, light, well-drained soil in full sun. May require support. Pick or remove dead flowers to prolong flowering.
