Three top performers in our helenium trial last summer. With all three, if you do the 'Chelsea Chop' in May, reducing a third of the stems by one third and a third by two-thirds, they flower right through summer and autumn. I love them for picking too.

This collection contains 1 plant each of:
Common Name Sneezewort
Border Position Border (Middle)
Soil Type Broad Tolerance
Scent Unscented
Site Full Sun
Moisture Moist but Well-drained
Height 1.2m (4ft)
Spacing 45cm (18in)
Sowing, Seeds, Planting Plant in full sun in groups of 3 or more. Sprinkle mycorrhizal fungi (Rootgrow) into the base of the planting hole and water well after planting.
Care Tips Support the heavy stems with a network of hazel sticks. Keep deadheading towards the end of summer to encourage new flowers. Divide in spring or autumn.
Flowering July - October
Vase Life Strip the bottom leaves and they will last over a week in water.

The plants came in fairly good order, but only two survived. I had a replacement but that was not delivered in good order as it was half out of the container and I tried to revive it by planting in a pot with plenty of compost and kept tan eye on it, but it just withered and eventually died. Not a very good purchase.
