We've just planted a swathe of this in the new farmhouse garden at Perch Hill, in the shade by our old apple tree. It has scented flowers in autumn, preceeded by elegant crimson leaves all spring and summer.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Plant away from direct sunlight and keep moist. To aid quick establishment, sprinkle mycorrhizal fungi (Rootgrow) into the base of the planting hole.
Care Tips Grow in cool, moist locations away from summer heat. The flowers will give off brilliant scent in autumn.

Didn’t survive the winter but it was in a sheltered spot and well drained. Maybe this must be undercover on the first year?
