Sowing, Seeds, Planting Clematis need moisture-retentive, but well-drained soil, in full sun or partial shade. Keep the base of the plant and the roots cool and shaded, by carefully positioning other plants, or put a layer of pebbles or flat stones at the base. Make sure you plant this with a method of support, and tie it in as it grows. This variety is virtually tendril-free, so won't entwine itself around an obelisk or trellis, you'll have to give it a hand.
Care Tips Regular pruning encourages strong tidy growth. If left unpruned stems become tangled and all flowers will tend to be at the top of the plant, above eye-level. Prune in early spring.

As regards all purchases, service and delivery were perfect, so where plants have done less well, could be down to me or this extremely erratic summer weather.
