Try mulching around the base to offer protection from heat and light. Will require support on a wall or in the border over which it can climb.

Oh this smells divine! beautiful flowers and has grown fabulously well on the trellis since too. Am very excited about seeing it next spring.

The clematis plant was in excellent condition, but when it flowered it was a very pale pink, and not the darker colour described in the catalog. I think that this plant was therefore probably not actually a ‘Freda’ I was really disappointed as I had specifically chosen SR to buy this unusual product. Subsequently I also ordered some foxglove ‘alba’ (white) and when these plants developed and flowered only half of them were actually as described - the others had dark purple flowers, and they looked like different cultivars. These experiences have sadly left me feeling that SR suppliers are probably not reliable and therefore I am unlikely to use SR again.

It’s a real shame as I love the site, the unusual variety of species and cultivars, the excellent condition of the plants, and reliable delivery - but all this is irrelevant if you don’t get the plants as described.

Excellent website and love the catalogs. Easy to order and deliver is good. Shipping containers are great and plants arrive in good condition.

The clematis is doing well climbing alongside the other three clematis I purchased from you.
