More Details

Zinnia elegans 'Queeny Red Lime' is exotic and unusual with red flowers, flecked with lime. I love a single stem of this in a vase.

There is hardly a vegetable garden in France, where you will not see zinnias grown for cutting. They thrive in hot, dry, Mediterranean summers and need good drainage and sunny open positions, but survive our colder, wetter summers fine. Any doubts, give them one or two doses of Copper Mixture and they will thrive.

Border Position Cutting Garden
Soil Type Broad Tolerance

Spacing 30cm (12in)
Sowing, Seeds, Planting Zinnias are best sown April-May under cover in modules or gutters to avoid root disturbance. Place somewhere warm and keep moist until germination occurs, usually within a week. Harden off before planting out after the frosts, once roots have filled their individual modules. Pinch out tips as you plant. Direct sow late May-June, zinnias hate cold nights.:
Care Tips Water once a week and stake plants individually - if they collapse over, they’ll never grow or flower as well as when vertically supported. Zinnias have a tendency to botrytis, especially during damp and cool weather so it is important to ensure good air circulation around plants and tidy up any dead or dying leaves and plant material. Picking or deadheading is necessary to prolong blooming and encourage branching.
Flowering July - first frosts, 12-14 weeks from sowing.
Vase Life 7 days. Strip bottom leaves.
Harvesting Flower production: 3 months.

I have always wanted to grow Zinnias and love predominately green flowers. These seedlings arrived safely and looked in good condition but achieved only 4 to 5 inches in height with one tiny flower head. Will not grow these again.

Quality of the plugs no where near as healthy as last years. I had fantastic flowers from them last year but these like the other zinnias I purchased struggled to get going and were leggy, some have flowered well but have only just started to do so the others either died or are still struggling to get buds going. I love zinnias but may try growing my own from seed in future.

Disappointed in the Zinnia. Hadn't had them before and found them too drab and artificial looking but good to truly something different

Best of all my purchases! What amazing plants! Looked great with lilies in tall planters around our terrace. Everyone commented on them. They were healthy and prolific flowerers, loving our hot summer. Definitely will buy these again

Delightful colour. Flower size small, not many blooms per plant, quite subject to mould, poor colour consistency across plants. (All in comparison with 3 other Zinnia strains grown)

Loved the look of these in the catalogue. I haven' found zinnias easy to raise from seed so the seedlings are a good buy. I think I'd hoped that the flowers themselves would be a bit bigger but apart from that we were able to cut quite a few for vases.

Highly recommended, still flowering well into October. Lovely unusual colour which mixes well with most other flowers.

This plant has been amazing all Summer. Every one grew to about 1m high with masses of beautiful flowers. Even the spent blooms kept their colour. I would definitely order these again.
