Sophisticated and supremely elegant red-crimson petals with a plum-like, silvery sheen. Tulip 'Couleur Cardinal' is invaluable for being early and excellent in pots.

I am a big fan of the Single Early group of tulips. They have neat, yet robust flowers with delicate feathering on the outside and a silvery tinge to their leaves and I love the fact they are early.

Our tulip bulbs are the best and biggest we can find, from tried and trusted growers. Don't forget that tulips like to be planted late in October and November with the colder weather, and need a little watering if planted in pots.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Plant outdoors October - December.
Care Tips Don't plant tulip bulbs until the cold weather has set in – this helps wipe out viral and fungal diseases. Leave the browning foliage on your tulips until every leaf has died right down – this allows the bulb to store more food and increases the chances of good flowering the following year.
Flowering April - May
Vase Life Tulips make supreme cut flowers. Strip the bottom leaves, tie the stems in paper to hold the stems ram-rod straight and leave to drink for at least 3 hours – or overnight. This helps keep the stems straight, but tulips do continue to grow after picking so curves may appear.

Deep deep red

This is a gorgeous tulip - so glad to see it is available again. Such a deep rich red, and it seems darker red inside. It is still coming back in pots - third year in a row now.
