Sowing, Seeds, Planting | Preferably plant to 15cm (6in)depth in deep, rich well-drained soil, enriched with leaf mould or well-rotted organic matter. If you have moist/boggy soil plant with plenty of grit or try planting the bulbs on their side to prevent moisture being trapped inside the bulb. |
Care Tips | Likes a cool root run. When planting, envelop the bulbs in sharp sand (particularly in heavy soils). Just leave them where they are from one year to the next, or plant them in a pot and sink them in the ground somewhere very prominent in the garden for lifting out of the wet and cold until the following spring. Remove seedheads unless required and cut down stems once foliage dies down. Plants may be affected by lily beetle, so keep your eyes peeled! |
Flowering | June - July |
Vase Life | When cutting, leave enough stem and foliage for photosynthesis and food storage. Strip anthers from the stamens to prevent sticky pollen. |

Lilium regale reviews
Reviewed 5th August 2019 by Mrs Dyson 3bulbs arrived one in very poor condition. Complained to SR and received another 3 instantly. 5 stars. However! Only 3 grew into plants so that is dire deserving of 1 star. Sorry, customer service good, product not. I am experienced allotment and garden planter |
Reviewed 4th August 2019 by Mary Really disappointed in the lily bulbs - when they came they appeared really big and healthy so had high expectations. All three lilies grew, (but only to a height of approx 18inches) but only one bulb flowered. However, the flowers were stunning and smelt gorgeous, so I can imagine how glorious it would have been if they had all done that. Will keep fingers crossed for next year |
Reviewed 1st August 2019 by Caroline These did very well, both in pots and in beds |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Madeleine The lilies were a bit puny and only on has flowered. |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Ms McDonnell The bulbs looked plump and healthy but haven't yet flowered. The drought is probably to blame as my garden is too big to allow for regular watering of all beds. So probably just bad luck. |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Joan a pity I only bought another 3 bulbs to add to my existing container. next year I shall buy much more for display. a pity they don't last very long |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Christine Only two of the six bulbs flowered, although that could have been because I bought them quite late in the season, hopefully they will do better next year. |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Jane Good healthy plant flowered well. Also had nice foliage. |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Wendy The bulbs have not appeared unfortunately |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Ed Caroline Cooper The regales have been glorious and exceeded ones I've had before |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Maggie Sadly only one of the lilies had a single flower and that was the sun total of my pot of lilies. Certainly won't be buying them again |
Reviewed 31st October 2018 by Barbara Did not flower very disappointing |

Reviewed 14th September 2018 by Mrs Dix only one of three bulbs flowered |
Reviewed 3rd September 2018 by Karin flowers not that big this year, maybe better next year when they will be put in the ground |
Reviewed 2nd September 2018 by JEAN These have done quite well in a pot. |
