Plant the corms 10cm apart and 10-15cm deep in clumps or lines. For containers, you can pack them in more closely. Plant a few every couple of weeks to give a succession of flowers through the summer and autumn.

There's a whole new generation of gladioli currently emerging in smoky, unusual, anything-but-garish colours. These are four favourites from our Perch Hill trials last summer.

This collection contains 15 corms each of:
  • Gladiolus 'Zita'
  • Gladiolus 'Velvet Eyes'
  • Gladiolus 'Indian Summer'
  • Gladiolus 'Bimbo'

The petals are edible, they have a very mild flavour and can be used to decorate puddings and cakes

Care Tips

Water regularly and stake tall varieties. Lift after first frosts. If you're growing in containers, stop watering at the end of summer and bring the pots indoors for the winter. Leave them in their pots or take them out and dry.
