I grow this excellent, tried and tested, mid-season 'super sweet' variety with a good yield of long, uniform cobs.
It's also a very ornamental plant, which looks good with tall, luscious, grass-like leaves, in any part of the garden.
Direct sow Cobra beans at the base of your sweetcorn plants and you will double your production from the same space.
Please note, illustrated packets are being introduced gradually over the coming months, availability may vary.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting | Sow from late April-May under cover in single pots or modules to minimise root disturbance. Plant out in late May or June, sweetcorn are wind-pollinated so to help pollination and kernel formation, plant in blocks, not rows 45cm (18in) apart in each direction. Sow direct from late spring to early summer. Sow 1-2 seeds in each position, remove the weaker seedling if both germinate. |
Care Tips | Prefers a sunny, sheltered position with well-drained soil. Keep well-watered during hot, dry spells. Tall varieties or those planted in exposed sites may requite staking. Apply a liquid feed once cobs begin to form. For best quality grow isolated from other sweetcorn varieties as cross-pollination can affect the flavour. Ready to harvest 14-16 weeks from sowing. Pick when whiskers turn brown, twisting the cobs from the stem. You can also check for ripeness by squeezing a kernel between your fingers, the liquid inside should be creamy rather than watery. |
Storing | Eat as quickly as possible after picking for best sweetness. |
Harvesting | July - October. Pick when whiskers poking out of the end of the cobs turn brown. |
Cooking Notes | Cook for 10 minutes in boiling water. Try Sarah's recipe for Barbecued corn with chilli and garlic butter. |

Not for my garden
Reviewed 23rd July 2017 by Carmen Neumann Sadly these were the only seeds out of my Sarah Raven order that did not work for me. Hardly any germination. I bought a second batch of seeds locally afterwards, with the same result so I think it may be more my technique/roottrainers/compost that was at fault here.
