Cultivation
If frosts have past, slips can be planted outside directly; if not, pot up and grow on in a greenhouse or sunny windowsill until late May or June. Plant roots horizontally, just beneath the soil surface rather than vertically.
Description
A well-known variety, with classic, rich coral-coloured tubers which are huge and each plant produced tons of them in Tom’s trial. This was the standout performer with a harvest of 4.3kg per plant.
Care Tips
Sweet potatoes need warm conditions to thrive and fertile but free-draining soil. They can be grown in containers - choose a large one which holds at least 15 litres of compost.
