A Year Full of Veg with Sarah Raven and Anna Greenland
When it comes to their veg philosophy, Sarah and Anna have a lot in common
The veg areas of Sarah's veg garden at Perch Hill are all about super-production, not just for the summer months, but throughout the winter too. What are the plants you can grow through the cold, grey months of the year and which need more light and heat for late spring and summer harvests? Sarah will concentrate on cut-and-come-again crops - salad leaves, edible flowers herbs and leafy greens plus the tastiest varieties, (after much trialling) of tomatoes, peas, courgettes and beans. It's all about how to get the most out of your space.
Anna Greenland is a vegetable gardener and author at the heart of the organic growing movement. For over 15 years she followed her passion, growing the highest quality food for chefs Raymond Blanc, Jamie Oliver and Tom Aikens. As Head Gardener at Soho Farmhouse Anna created the vegetable gardens from scratch. Anna is now creating her own gardens and small holding in Suffolk, which she documents for her instagram community. She is a regular presenter on Alan Titchmarsh’s ITV show – ‘Alan Titchmarsh’s Gardening Club’, has written a book for beginner organic growers – Grow Easy – and writes for the horticultural platform Scribehound Gardening. Anna will focus on crops to be planning for and sowing now for winter harvests.
This afternoon session includes practical demonstrations showing you some key relevant skills for this course including an explanation of the best sowing and growing systems. At the end there will be a Q&A.
