Grape hyacinths (muscari) are very easy to grow and are brilliant for pots – or just three bulbs grown in Moroccan tea glasses. They will thrive inside or out in a sunny position but don’t mind a bit of shade.

I like the early foliage before the flowers, especially in pots, and the seed pods are good too, giving value in the garden from March until June.
