More Details

Phacelia campanularia is a stunning large flowered gentian blue plant, often called the desert bluebell which is a wild flower of California. It is perfect for sowing into any gaps in your borders for almost instant marvellous colour.

It is also a good attractant of beneficial insects and pollinators and is widely used in California on farms and organic vineyards.

I've just finished writing a book about Vita Sackville-West and this was one of her all time favourite plants. We should grow it more.

Sown direct last month in Scotland (during a warm spell!) into courtyard raised bed, germinated easily and now starting to flower! Really lovely, no doubt will use again.

I grew these from seed and I'm delighted with these beautiful flowers. I've never seen them before, quite suprised as they are the most vivid blue colour and have been grown in very shallow soil where nothing else will grow. As a bonus the bees love them.

One of the best bee attracting plants and so pretty. I grow it in pots with tiny campanulas, annual viper bugloss or for contrast with shorter calendulas. Lovely on its own too.
