Tricia Guild
Tricia Guild OBE is the Creative Director and Founder of Designers Guild - a London based international luxury lifestyle and interiors brand. She is synonymous with colour, pattern and texture in the home.
“Being an avid and enthusiastic gardener, I have bought Sarahs’ seeds and bulbs for many years so it was a delight when we worked together on a garden for Chelsea in 2017. Sarah’s passion for colour and flowers mirrors my own. I am a huge fan! Trying to pick a favourite flower is like asking me what my favourite Designers Guild collection is! Almost impossible … so i was rather pleased that i could pick a variety of dahlias here. I have chosen shades of pink from the ethereal and very beautiful ‘Cafe au Lait Royal’ to the stronger ‘Radegast’ varieties”

YOUR GARDEN STORIES WITH
Tricia Guild
WHO INSPIRED YOU TO GET INTO GARDENING?
One of my earliest memories of gardening is as a very small child, gardening with my grandfather. He gave me a tiny bit of his garden to work on and some seeds. I fell in love with it.
WHERE DO YOU GARDEN?
At home — both in London and in Italy. It is a passion and a joy I literally cannot live without.
WHAT DOES GARDENING DO FOR YOU EITHER PHYSICALLY OR EMOTIONALLY?
Well there is nothing like weeding or digging to keep fit and supple but it is the connection to our landscape that I really love, being outside, nurturing plants that I may have grown from seed - it’s restorative and energising at the same time.
IF YOU HAD TO CHOOSE THREE DESERT ISLAND PLANTS WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Dahlias, plumbago, fritillaria...if I absolutely had to choose!
WHAT IS THE GARDENING OR FLORISTRY TOOL YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT?
My Felco number 2’s for pruning and cutting flowers — am rarely in the garden without them.
