Description
A plant with so much going for it. ‘Strawberry Blonde’ is one of the loveliest of the tagetes family, with flowers in a rich range of colours, from the darkest crimson to a dusky blood orange. I adore them picked and arranged with Zinnia ‘Aztec Burgundy bicolour’ or as an under-planting for tomatoes. They’re an effective companion plant helping protect against whitefly on indoor crops AND, the flowers are edible.
The vibrant flowers are edible and can be used much as you would calendula or viola flowers, either to decorate salads, cakes and puddings, or floated in drinks and cocktails.
Care Tips
Feed and water marigold plants regularly, particularly during hot, dry periods. Regular picking or deadheading will encourage further production of blooms throughout the summer.
