Episode 207 advice sheet
Savannah’s fashion background, and how she got into the bridal market (2:16)
Savannah Miller is renowned for her elegant, timeless designs, and while her background in fashion is well-known, her entry to the bridal space was somewhat of an accident. Her first wedding in 2005 was unknowingly covered by the paparazzi desperate to photograph her sister’s then husband, an A-list celebrity. The resultant pictures ended up on the cover of a national magazine and the rest is, as they say, history.
What Savannah loves about gardening (7:45)
As a beginner gardener, Savannah became truly hooked when she moved into a new house in the country in Gloucestershire where the soil was in need of some serious attention.
Initially sceptical that anything would grow in the heavy clay, she’s worked to improve the soil and has become especially fond of dahlias which have gone ‘completely bananas’ in her garden. Among her other favourite plants you’ll find the likes of Japanese anemones and a standout foxglove called ‘Sutton’s Apricot’.
How the garden manifests in Savannah’s bridal work (14:15)
Savannah’s bridal collections are known for their understated elegance, focusing on texture in particular, but her newfound love of growing cut flowers has influenced her latest collection in many ways.
The layering of lace and textural interplay of fabrics reflects what Savannah sees in her cutting patch, capturing the three-dimensional essence of the dahlias she grows in her garden.
