A favourite foodie destination...

One of my absolute favourite places to visit in London, has to be beautiful Borough Market.  For any of you who haven’t had the chance to visit this fabulous ‘foodie’ destination, it is an absolute must!

Built in 1851 by Henry Rose in Art Deco style, it is now one of the largest outdoor food markets in the World.  Selling a vast variety of fruit and vegetables and speciality food products.  Although open all week, it is Friday and Saturday which showcases the best variety of stallholders, who travel from not only around the South East of England but also many from around Europe, to showcase their fantastic array of artisan food products.

Not just a treat for food lovers, the displays are an absolute feast for the eyes and welcomes many keen photographers.  With beautiful displays of speciality breads, cheeses, olives, charcuterie, meat and fish.  My favourites are the vegetables.....for me they are as beautiful as any floral display!

With many stands cooking up delicious lunch time dishes such as Paella, Raclette, speciality sausages and casseroles, it is a fun place to eat ‘on the hoof’ while browsing the market.  At this time of year especially with the run up to Christmas, I can so recommend a ‘Reindeer Burger’ and a delicious hot mulled wine, while listening to the carol singers who congregate in the centre of the market.  Lovely foodie inspiration for the festivities ahead!
