More Details

Ammi visnaga is a slightly chunkier form of ammi with dense yet delicate white and green domed flowers, which make one of the best garden plants and filler foliage plants you can grow.

Its green, angelica-like architectual seed pods look spot on with Dahlia 'Rip City' and they last for weeks. These are good as cut flowers too, so ammi visnaga has months and months of use.

Genus Ammi
Group/Species visnaga
Type Hardy Annual
Border Position Middle
Soil Type Neutral
Scent Unscented
Site Full Sun

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Sow in mid spring or late summer (for a larger, more prolific plant) under cover or direct into the garden.

Flowering June - September, 12 weeks from spring sowing.
Vase Life 7-10 days. Strip all the bottom leaves and some higher ones otherwise they will yellow before the flowers age. Cut stems to 30cm to cover an oasis globe hung from the ceiling. It's green seed pods are perfect with dark dahlias too.
Harvesting Flower production: 2 months and seed pods 2 months after that.

All the plants arrived on time and were of excellent quality. This was the first time I have used Sarah Raven and of course the excellent service I have had I shall use her again next season.

Disappointed with lack of supply of plants ordered paid for and then a considerable. Time later. To be told there aren't any of the order this also happened with previous orders last year might it be an idea to not take payment but to maybe let customers know when an item that is required is then back in stock or available

The plants grew well at first but then started to go brown - I kept them well watered and I’m not sure if the cause.

The seedlings were all in excellent condition and planted in to the borders in my south facing garden . Despite lots of TLC only 2 matured to flowering .

Very poor growth despite careful watering. Virtually no flowers and spindly plants

Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:

"We are sorry to hear that the plants did not thrive. Please be advised we have refunded you for these."

Lovely but not as wonderful as the "other ammi".

A bit disappointing. In our Edinburgh climate it might have been better to stake them as they were all over the place. I did better with them last year.

Mmmm...I love Ammi and this is the second year I've grown it. Rather short lived and didn't look as bold as I thought it would

I grew this for the first time this year and they certainly did not disappoint. The flower heads are lacey and are ideal inbetween other cut plants for a beautifrul indoor display. A great contrast plant in the borders

This was the first year I have grown ammi visnaga. They grow well from seed and transplant well. Don't be in a hurry to get them out in the spring. They don't do well in frost! In my garden which is not sheltered they have flowered from July to now (end of October.) I mixed them with echion - beautiful display. Will definitely grow them again - and again.

Beautiful

These plants are great. Strong structure topped with the most beautiful and delicate flowers - the pollinators seem to love them too and mine seem fine in a little bit of shade.

I decided to give these a try this year but was quite hesitant as I live in Northumberland which is a tad colder than the South, I bought them as seedlings , what a fantastic success they have been, wonderful in vases of cut flowers and I shall never be without them in the future , they last for an amazing time in cut flowers indoors , Thankyou for including them in the catalogue, I love them and I am not an experienced gardener, just an enthusiastic learner at 70. Thankyou
