More Details

Eryngium bourgatii is one of the bluest of the beautiful sea hollies, with delicate whorls of spikes around the central egg. Bees and butterflies love these.

Eryngiums rank with euphorbias, poppies, sunflowers and Parrot tulips as my favourite plants for cutting and for the garden. The sculpted heads in steely grey or rich royal blue are hard to beat. Grow them and grow lots of them.

A healthy plant with lots of attractive foliage, though no flowers have appeared yet. I’m confident that once it’s established there will be plenty.

The plant was quite small when I received it. It survived the winter in the ground but with hindsight I would have probably over wintered it in the greenhouse. It’s flourishing now but as it’s still small we have no spikes as yet.

It was planted last Autumn. Survived very cold winter and performed this Summer with absolutely beautiful blue colors .
