Sowing, Seeds, Planting | Best planted in a cool, rich crumbly soil in a semi-shaded spot where the flowers will really shine. Choose your spot carefully as they dislike being moved. They will spread over time to colonise large areas, so give them plenty of space. To aid quick establishment sprinkle mycorrhizal fungi into the base of the planting hole, water well and apply a mulch around the base of the plants to help provide a cool root-run. Plants can get large so give plenty of space around the young plants. |
Care Tips | The Foxgloves will self seed freely but some will revert to the wild colour form. Pull out any seedlings with red stems if you want them to remain pure white. May need staking. Remove the first flower spike early to encourage more 'prince' flowers from the base. Caution: All parts of the plant are highly toxic if ingested. For all plants avoid excessive winter wet but keep moist through the summer months. |
Flowering | May - October |
Vase Life | 7-10 days. As you cut put them in a deep bucket of warm water and leave for several hours before arranging. Remove any flowers hanging by the stigma of the Foxglove. |
