Spacing Plant with the bulb two-thirds in, one-third out of the soil.
Sowing, Seeds, Planting Plant with the bulb two thirds in, one third out of the soil. Or place in an amaryllis forcer with the roots in water.
Care Tips Amaryllis are a tender bulb from Brazil and so need to be grown inside - frost free - when it's cold, but once the frosts are over and the nights are no longer cold, they can be moved outside until the end of summer. Grow inside in a bright, warm, sunny place - ideally 20 degrees, free from draughts.

This is the third year that I have bought a Lemon Star bulb - and they never fail to bloom with the most wonderful light lemon flowers. My current bulb has two flowers in bloom and a third bud on its way. Really pleased with it.

I have grown my Lemon Star in a forcing jar in water and it is amazing. Two large flower heads with individual blooms measuring 6 ins or so across. Still going strong after two weeks of blooming. Totally different class than the usual 'High Street' varieties. My only challenge is keeping it upright! Any ideas of how to do this when grown in water - apart from leaning against a wall?
