Tricia Guild

"A fabulous day! Flowers, colour and more flowers all in a beautiful setting.

Tricia was an interesting speaker who shared her love of colour and flowers with us and was happy to answer our questions.

Sarah's garden was a riot of late summer colour and she and her knowledgeable staff were happy to show us round and provide advice. A wonderful morning followed by an excellent three course lunch in a beautifully decorated marquee. A small slice of heaven!"

A Morning and Lunch with Tricia Guild

"Thank you so much for a truly inspirational day at Perch Hill. Sarah covered so many topics and is so generous in sharing her wealth of knowledge and understanding of plants and flowers. And the course notes are brilliantly comprehensive and invaluable.

Her style in celebrating the natural world with such skill is very much what I aspire to and her explanation of the science behind elements such as searing was illuminating. Thank you also for introducing me to yet more horticultural wonders: stunning Salvia Amistad; charming Akebia quint; magnificent ‘White Touch’ and ‘La Belle Epoque’ tulips — for starters."

"Thank you for a wonderful day yesterday. I loved the gardens at Perch Hill – they were atmospheric and real at the same time. I found Sarah & the course to be inspiring."

"We would just like to thank you for so kindly sharing your wonderful garden with us on Saturday. I visited with my parents and 13 year old daughter from the New Forest and the whole day was a huge treat and I have been thinking about it ever since. From the moment we walked through the gate there was so much to look at and take in.

We have your orange Tithonia growing at home but loved seeing them with the Salvia Amstrad and Stipa gigantea. Our dahlia at home doesn't look quite like yours, but we were inspired to try Happy Halloween and Downham Royal.

We loved the new barn, the pots everywhere. My daughter has asked for your cook book for Christmas so you have also inspired a new generation as well as bringing colour and excitment to our gardens. It was a truly inspirational visit and would love to come and see the tulips in April and alliums in May."

An Evening at Sissinghurst

"Many thanks to Sarah and Adam and all the rest of the team for a really wonderful evening at Sissinghurst last Thursday. We had been looking forward to it so much and it surpassed all our expectations!

There was such a friendly and relaxed atmosphere about it all, with fascinating talks from both Sarah and Adam. It was very special being able to wander round the garden with so few other people there (and on the most glorious summer's evening) and then finishing with that delicious supper. Many thanks to everyone involved."

Cutting Garden Course

"I have never had any interest in gardening and only came along with my Mum as part of her 60th birthday present. I really had a great time and have now decided to take up gardening as a hobby and have already written out my order form for seeds to plant.

I felt I learnt a lot, even as a beginner, and I intend to make my garden a beautiful, tranquil place. My favourite part of the day was meeting Sarah's dog, who followed us around, he is absolutely gorgeous (as well as Fiona the cat!). Also, the food was very delicious. Very unusual and very yummy.

All team members were very friendly and helpful. I love the Emma Bridgewater mugs, lots of tea and the homemade biscuits. We had a wonderful day and hope to attend another course next year."

Gill, Cutting Garden course

"The setting was lovely. The 'demonstration room' was not overcrowded and, for those not in the front rows, the 'big screen' was perfect. Before the event started it was good to be able to have the chance to chat to kindred spirits over coffee and some rather gorgeous cakey things.

Gill Meller and Steve Lamb provided a completely enjoyable journey through all aspects of ‘piggery’ - all the while being peppered with snacks from Gill. Steve Lamb’s post prandial session on curing and smoking was right up my street. All in all a super day. Thank you all."

Christmas Decorating Course

"I came with my daughter Sally and we had the most enjoyable day and learnt so many new tips. Wish I had brought my iPad to take notes. Lunch was delicious and of course we enjoyed our shopping. We really enjoyed Sarah's demonstration – she always makes it look so effortless and the end result is a joy to behold. I am not sure you can improve on any of it. Looking forward to next year's courses."

Gilly, Christmas Decorating course
"The content and level at which it was pitched was just right and Sarah was able to judge her audience and our combined level of experience. I took away some really practical tips as well as a shopping bag of inspired purchases. The course made the cutting garden concept come to life and having had 2 years so far of planning and growing my patch I am really excited about what next year will have in store."

Growing & Arranging Cut Flowers course

"I thoroughly enjoyed my day at Perch Hill. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The venue was beautifully decorated with inspiring arrangements. The lunch was excellent. I particularly enjoyed trying the rhubarb cordial!

Sarah's talks were brilliant and the course handouts contained very full guides to the two areas we were covering. It was a real joy to be let loose to cut foliage and flowers in the Perch Hill gardens. We couldn't believe that we really could pick exactly what we wanted and we were spoilt for choice. As well as Sarah there were helpers who went round giving advice when needed. We all took home stunning arrangements."

"My daughter and I just wanted to say how very much we enjoyed our day with you. It was a very warm friendly day, lots of interesting and useful tips, followed by a really delicious lunch, and the bunch of flowers to take home was a lovely thought. You really made it a special Mother's Day, so thank you all very much indeed."
