More Details

This is the leaf form of coriander which is slower to bolt than all other forms. You can cook few Oriental meals without it and we eat the flowers and green seeds in salads.

Sow little and often in the early spring and autumn, not in the hot, dry months of summer. We picked this right through the winter too last year, come frost, rain or even snow, it kept going. Highly recommended for cold weather sowing.

Genus Coriandrum sativum
Variety Leisure
Type Hardy Annual
Common Name Coriander Leaf Form, Cilantro
Soil Type Sandy, Neutral
Site Full Sun, Part Shade
Moisture Well-drained
Height 60cm (24in)
Spacing 20-25cm (8-10in)
Sowing, Seeds, Planting Sow little and often every 4-6 weeks from February-March and August-September, in blocks or lines.
Care Tips Pick regularly as this bolts quickly. Do not plant near fennel as it will affect it's flavour. This produces very delicate white flowers. This grows well in a container pot.
Harvesting March-May and September-April. 4 weeks from sowing. The leaves will produce from 4-6 weeks.
Cooking Notes To harvest the seeds, pick the seed pod and hang upside down in a paper bag - as the seeds dry they will fall into the bag.
